SUMMARY OF LIFELINE’S PRIVACY POLICY

  • Who are we?

LifeLine Truckers Logistic Services Inc. is incorporated under the Canada Business Corporations Act and operates from the province of Ontario.

We variously operate under the trade names of “LifeLine Truckers” and “LifeLine Auto,” referred to herein as “LifeLine Truckers + Auto.”

We are a membership-based organization, or association, that provides core benefits, such as discounts on cellular plans, fuel, tires and more – from time to time – by extending preferred pricing arrangements, made by our preferred suppliers, to our members. The LifeLine Truckers also offers its services, to prospective members, throughout its website(s) and direct sales.

This Privacy Policy applies to our collection, use and disclosure of personal information regarding our members including on our website, in our online newsletters and bulletins, as well as, to any preferred suppliers that are offering LifeLine Truckers’ members, discounts or enhanced benefits.

  • What personal information do we collect?

Canadian privacy legislation defines personal information broadly as information about "an identifiable individual" or as information that allows an individual to be identified. The types of personal information that we will be collecting from all prospective members includes: their name, mailing address(es), contact numbers and e-mail address(es). This information is necessary for the proper administer of LifeLine’s membership database(s) and the Corporation to deliver to our members their LifeLine discount cards. Prospective members are required to provide this basic information as a contractual term of membership.

LifeLine may also require of its prospective members and renewing members that they provide demographic and other information for statistical purposes, but such information will be collected and used by LifeLine only internally.

From time to time, LifeLine will offer its members who have decided to opt-in under CASL (Canada's anti-spam legislation), additional discounts or special offers, in return for giving LifeLine permission to forward such offers from its preferred suppliers. Those members who do not opt-in, will continue to receive all of LifeLine’s core benefits, but they may not receive the extra benefits unless they consult and learn of them on our website(s).

LifeLine will not be selling its member lists to third parties, but it may in its sole discretion, from time to time,  send information or bulletins to those of its members who have elected to opt-in, as indicated above.

In order to better serve our members, LifeLine may from time to time, ask for additional information or to conduct surveys. If such information is collected it will not be collated or published in such a manner that would permit any outsider, or member of the public, to identify any particular member or to disclose such an individual member’s experiences, driving areas, habits and other information.

  • We collect your personal information for the purposes listed below:
  • To deliver membership cards and core benefits

If you are a member of LifeLine, we use your name, mailing and email addresses to order and direct delivery to you, of your membership card. During this process we require enough information concerning you to deliver the membership card, by email.

  • To deliver services or information you requested

If you order a product, services or information from a LifeLine preferred supplier that preferred supplier will have enough information about you, to process your request and follow upon with you about your transaction.

In such an event, the members’ information will be dealt with in accordance with that preferred supplier’s own Privacy Policies, not necessarily those of LifeLine.

If LifeLine has a contest on one of its websites and you enter that contest, you are giving LifeLine permission to use your personal information to run the contest, either on our own behalf or on behalf of our participating preferred suppliers.

  • To process membership payments

During the sign-up process LifeLine uses an e-Commerce service linked to its website to process credit card and other fiscal information provided by prospective and renewing members. Applicants paying for their membership leave LifeLine’s website to link with the secure portal of the e-Commerce provider that will collect and process their payment information. LifeLine does not, and will not, collect such fiscal information from its members as long as it continues to out-source it payments to a third party.

  • To send you information

From time to time we may send you further information about new or better core benefits, issues of industry, public or general interest – unless you have opted-out of such communications under CASL.

  • To Generate Revenue

Although LifeLine Truckers does not sell its membership lists per se, it may from time to time, accept remittances and/or other forms compensation, both pecuniary and non-pecuniary, from preferred suppliers for advertising, or referrals, who benefit from our membership.

Most often this practice will arise where a preferred supplier provides a prize that members in good standing, who have opted-in, may be eligible to win.

We will share limited personal information outside of LifeLine if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation, or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to:

  1. to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues, including abuse of membership terms and/or a preferred supplier offered terms;
  2. we may share non-personally identifiable information publicly and with our preferred suppliers;
  3. we also allow preferred suppliers to collect information pertaining to their offers, whether a member is in good standing and thus eligible to receive offers; and
  4. we may collect information for advertising and measurement purposes, by using cookies on our website(s), or similar technologies.
  • Other purposes

In addition to the purposes listed above, from time to time, we may use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • to detect and protect LifeLine, its preferred suppliers and/or any third party against error, theft and other illegal activity;
  • to ensure audit compliance with LifeLine’s policies and contractual obligations;
  • to understand a member’s needs and preferences, by contacting or communicating with them, to conduct surveys or evaluations;
  • to obtain audited statements regarding numbers of members;
  • to engage in business transactions, including the purchase, sale, lease, merger, amalgamation or any other type of acquisition, disposal, to give or obtain secured interests or any financing involving LifeLine, if subsidiaries or affiliates;
  • to comply with federal and provincial legislation or regulations; and
